CBS has confirmed its flagship comedy series Ghosts will be returning for a third season of spooktacular hijinks. The second season is currently underway, and the stories show no signs of slowing down.

Variety reported the news that the primetime comedy had been renewed, and will return in the 2023-2034 television season.

“The Family Business” – Sam gives relationship advice to her and Jay’s assistant, Freddie (Mike Lane), ignoring Hetty’s warning not to get too close to “the help.” Also, Sasappis strikes up a romance with Jessica (Nichole Sakura), the ghost who lives in Freddie’s car, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Jan. 12 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Deadline further reported that the comedy will be returning, after critical acclaim and high ratings in its first two seasons.

Ghosts is based on the BBC series of the same name. The American adaptation was developed by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. Many of the characters in the British series have counterparts in the American version.

This season of Ghosts has explored some of ghosts’ backstories, including that of Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) and resident Revolutionary ghost Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones). The characters may also be on the cusp of discovering the body of former Wall Street bro Trevor (Asher Grodman).

Said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, “From the opening of the Woodstone B&B to epic Halloween and Christmas episodes, we have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our GHOSTS even better. Much like our viewers, we love them more each and every week.”

She continued, “As the series continues to win fans on broadcast and streaming, we’re thrilled to bring back this touching and hilarious comedy for a third season.”

There is no word on a release date or window for the series’ third season at this time.

Ghosts stars Rose McIver, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Brandon Scott Jones, Danielle Pinnock, Richie Moriarty, Asher Grodman, Sheila Carrasco, Devan Chandler Long, Rebecca Wisocky, and Román Zaragoza.

Ghosts airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
