Sundance 2023: Watch the Trailer for ‘Polite Society’

Polite Society hit the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. This was one of the most anticipated movies leading up to the Festival. With its feminist themes and promise of an epic heist, there was always going to be a lot to love about this story. The “Good For Her” genre is about to get a little bit wider.

The movie tells the story of Ria Khan (Priya Kansara), a martial artist whose sister drops out of the sport to get married. Unable to accept this turn of events, Ria gathers a group of friends to rectify the situation. From there, wedding shenanigans ensue, including what is sure to be an epic wedding heist.

Polite Society was included in Sundance’s Midnights program. This slate is reserved for more avant-garde and experimental projects. Nida Manzoor, the creator of the award-winning series, We Are Lady Parts, is the creative mind behind this project. Polite Society promises to be very similar in tone.

So much about this movie has the making of an instant cult classic. The movie is set to be released in the UK on April 7, 2023, and in the United States on April 28, 2023. The movie will have it’s British premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival.

Between the action, the feminist message, and incredible performances, it already looks like Polite Society has a lot to offer.
